About my work in Second Life

Akim Alonzo  - Painting in the picture
Interview by Moona Lubitsch (about the "12 Girls of SL" exposition)
- March 2010 -

I know Akim Alonzo from a long time on second life, and I had the opportunity to appreciate his works at the gallery in Macondo and over . His show has allowed me to recognize the humanity of glances that blew me previously.  What attentive spectator and friend of Akim I thought to write my thoughts on the Akim’s artistic production and interview him.
The exhibition is female portraits and more from which looks out intense glances, colours that come out hot shades, liquid forms that are reminiscent of paintings. The photographic work of Akim Alonzo proposes  color prints that harmoniously mix three types of artistic languages : photography, painting and graphic, creating unique photos. Works leading to the visitor shows images rich in emotions and processes of technical graphics to high professional level.

Interview
[14:53] Moona Lubitsch: How long do you work in photography in RL and in SL?
[14:54] Akim Alonzo: RL since I was 14 years  .. in SL from almost  3 year
[14:55] Akim Alonzo: I started 14 years with the black and white films in my darkroom
[14:56] Moona Lubitsch: how is born and then your advanced training in the field of photography in RL and in SL?
[14:58] Akim Alonzo: RL I worked for years with the film, I had some experience in advertising studies , portraits and still life, then from 6 years have passed to the digital cameras and I work only with those now .
[15:00] Akim Alonzo: in SL I had immediately the idea of study photography just entered the game, it was natural to me.
[15:01] Moona Lubitsch: I suppose you have done research on portraiture ...
[15:03] Akim Alonzo: well ... not much particular research but I had experience on that, I like to do portraits because I think it is the best way to know well and describe a person’s essence ..
[8:36] Moona Lubitsch: What equipment do you use in RL and SL?
[8:36] Akim Alonzo: in RL I use only Nikon digital cameras , SL use the snapshot system when shoot ... sometimes the N30 as a canvas studio
[8:38] Akim Alonzo : and then in postproduction I work the pict on the Mac
[8:39] Moona Lubitsch: To enhance the beauty of portraits do you choose particular colors?
[8:40] Akim Alonzo: No I dont normally,  I work on lights ... I prefer the ambient light, I try to calibrate the shadows and the effect background figure ,to give depth to the photos cause picts from the SL snapshot  are terribly flat ... have no depth
[8:51] Moona Lubitsch: in your shots as well as a clear graphical search, takes the viewer immediately the depth of eyes . How can you give humanity to the beautiful avatars in your photos ?
[8:52] Akim Alonzo: Well, indeed this is my core research ... to demonstrate that even an avatar can move closer to an almost human expression
[8:53] Akim Alonzo: To do that I peer at the avatar ... and polarise the eyes…
[8:53] Akim Alonzo: the eyes are the center of my pictures ... and I take picture till I have the moment that I like, the moment that gives me an emotion
[8:54] Akim Alonzo: that moment fleeting and expressive that also avatars can have, I know I can look bizarre saying this, but I have verified that it is this way
[8:55] Akim Alonzo: I try to make an expression, and then an emotion, from the looks of avatars, this is my work.
[8:56] Moona Lubitsch: Thank you Akim.
